چکیده

Two low-dose blends were prepared that differed only in the particle size of the drug used to make the blends. The geometric mean particle diameters for the two lots of drug used were 18.5 and 6.1 /~m. Samples of the blends approximately equivalent to the unit dose of 10 /~g per 99 mg of blend were assayed for potency. For the blend containing the larger particle size drug, the potency range was 88-130% (n = 65) compared to 97-102% (n = 64) for the blend containing the smaller particle size drug. A simple computer method was able to qualitatively simulate the observed potency profiles using only the particle size distribution of the drug and assuming ideal mixing. The method provides guidance in setting particle size specifications to avoid poor content uniformity. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd.

An investigation into the effects of excipient particle size, blending techniques and processing parameters on the homogeneity and content uniformity of a blend containing low-dose model drug

Powder blend homogeneity is a critical attribute in formulation development of low dose and potent active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) yet a complex process with multiple contributing factors. Excipient characteristics play key role in efficient blending process and final product quality. In this work the effect of excipient type and properties, blending technique and processing time on con...

The Effect of Process Variables on the Properties of Ketoprofen Loaded Solid Lipid Nanoparticles of Beeswax and Carnauba Wax

Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs) have emerged as an alternative colloidal carriers for sustained release of lipophilic drugs with poor absorption and water solubility. This manuscript describes the effect of process variables on the production of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs) from beeswax and carnauba wax and ketoprofen release from these carriers. It was found that by increasing drug co...

بررسی تأثیر اندازه ذره ای دارو و پلیمر HPMC K15M بر میزان رهش تئوفیلین از ماتریکس های پلیمری

Background and purpose: One of the methods of preparing controlled-release dosage forms is the incorporation of drug in a matrix containing a hydrophilic rate-controlling polymer. Drug-polymer ratio, drug particle size and HPMC particle size have been identified as modifiers of drug release. This study evaluated the relationship and influence of formulation factors such as drug-HPMC ratio and p...

Investigating the effects of particle size and dosage of talc nanoparticles as a novel solid collector in quartz flotation

In this study, hydrophobic talc nanoparticles were applied as a novel class of solid flotation collector. The aim of this work was to understand the effect of talc nanoparticles size and dosage on the quartz flotation recovery. X-ray analysis, dynamic light scattering, and scanning electron microscopy were conducted. Flotation tests were performed in modified a Hallimond flotation cell. The Zet...
